Review for twister

Price was $46.99. This is my 3rd brand of stair stepper i've tried and by far the best i've used! very solid & sturdy and gives you a great workout. I use while binge watching my shows doing 15 minute sets. The resistance cords have solid metal clips and add plenty of difficulty. Highly recommend!

This stepper exceeded my expectations. I just wanted something to get my heart rate up a bit on days i couldn't make it to the gym. Now i find myself skipping the gym to use this! i normally use the upright bike, treadmill, or elliptical at the gym, for at least half an hour. I can't last a full 10 minutes on this without needing to take a break to catch my breath! i'm sure i could adjust the resistance to make it easier, but i like the fact that i'm pouring sweat and gasping for air and have aching legs after each use; workouts aren't supposed to be easy. I do find sometimes the motion hurts my knees, but leaning forward or back, or adjusting my foot position on the pedals, usually helps. . I'm a fit person. I've worked out regularly my entire life. I run 5ks. I use weights for squats and leg presses and such. Nothing else i've tried gets me breathing as hard as this little guy, or pushes my muscles as hard. I even had a friend who runs marathons use it for a few seconds goofing around, and he commented on how surprised he was by its difficulty. . As far as storage, it's a bit clumsy to move around, but would easily fit in a closet. Doesn't fold up to be slid under a couch or bed. . The arm bands are decent. Definitely won't have the same effect as lifting weights, but they offer enough resistance that they would probably improve arm tone even without lifting. . The noise is negligible. You can hear the air escaping with each step, but no squeaking that i've noticed. I use while watching tv and just turn the volume up a little. . Assembly was very quick and easy. Sunny health & fitness no. 045 twister stepper Review (27001219 grau schwarz one size)

Good stepper for the price - operates very smoothly. Easy assembly, and easy to move around as needed. . Like many others, mine started squeaking after several months of use ( 20 minutes a day, 5x a week). A little annoying. I will start trying various oils/lubricants to see if i can make it stop. Despite this, it's still hard to beat for the price. -Q. Anonymous

A compact, surprisingly versatile home fitness device, the sunny health & fitness twister stepper is essentially a portable elliptical machine, with built-in resistance training. The twist action the device creates helps you tone thighs and buttocks, while achieving a challenging cardiovascular workout. Moving up and down and side to side, you'll work deep muscles in hard-to-reach places without putting undue stress on joints. Resistance is adjustable, and the exercise bands work the arms, chest, back, and shoulders for a total body workout. Heavy-duty steel construction will provide years of reliable use, and oversized, slip-resistant foot plates keep you firmly planted during your workout. An onboard computer with lcd display shows total count, time, calories burned, and rep count. The stepper can be used for 15 minutes each time, because the hydraulics may get over heat if they use it for over 15 minutes each time. The hydraulics will make noises if they are over heat, and the hydraulics can be damaged too. The maintenance and care instructions in the manual, and this item is not made for commercial use.

I will use this as an initial review of the product. It was extremely easy to put together and my first time on it was fantastic. I started sweating in the first 20 minutes something i don't do even if i walk three miles a night. It is a great start to what i hope will become routine. As i keep using it should my review change i will revise it. But so far, for the price and mobility it is a great home device for someone who just cannot make it to a gym to get a simple cardio in.

Sunny Health & Fitness No. 045 Twister Stepper
Click to see NoticeSunny Health & Fitness No. 045 Twister Stepper (Sporting Goods)"I purchased the sunny twister stepper a few months ago, and ended up returning it because i found the steps were too stiff to maneuver, even without using the tension knob. I then tried the regular sunny mini stepper sold here on online store, and didn't like it at all. The regular mini stepper had too small of a base, and it was not nearly as comfortable to use as the twister version. . After a lot of research, i decided to order the sunny twister stepper again, with the assumption that i may have gotten a defective one the first time. To my delight, the new one functions great! the steps are not as stiff as the first one i received, and the quality and build of the stepper have improved (perhaps the manufacturer updated it). . I am physically fit, and i find that this stepper gets my heart rate up in a matter of minutes. When you use the arm pulleys at the same time you are stepping, it really elevates the level of exercise, and becomes a total body workout. In addition, because you are essentially balancing yourself while using the stepper, you are also working on your core without even realizing it. . I like the small footprint of the unit, as i can slide it under a table, or hide it in a corner without it being obtrusive. It's a sturdy, durable machine, and the monitor/counter works just fine for my needs. The hooks that attach the arm pulleys to the base are made of metal. I don't see them breaking anytime soon. . I highly recommend this stepper. For some, it can be a sole source of exercise. For others, it can act as an adjunct, or means to switch up an exercise routine. Either way, you can't do better for the price."

Exerpeutic Folding Magnetic Upright Bike Pulse

Very impressed! i purchased this for my wife who has certain physical challenges and this fits the bill in spades. I assembled this and was very impressed with the build quality. The welds were clean and consistent without any rough areas. The seat is very comfortable. We are in our early 70's and the seat adjustments make this easy to get on and off. The adjustments for resistance are smooth and the lowest setting offers very little resistance for those just starting out or recovering from knee or hip surgery. . I have read the negative reviews and frankly do not understand why someone would buy a $140 bike and expect it to be capable of "spinning" or high resistance exercises. It's at $140 bike folks, use it for exercise not a marathon. It is a great bike for daily exercise, if you want a high level cardio machine then buy one. This is a great bike for those of us who just want some exercise without breaking the bank

Exerpeutic Folding Magnetic Upright Bike Pulse (1200) FAQ.

It took 30 minutes to put together. The enclosed instructions were intimidating. Don't be scared. It was really easy. Very smooth, sturdy and whisper quiet. I rode it for 10 minutes on level 2 to test it out (out of 8) and worked up a sweat. I am looking forward to using it. . I live in a tiny san francisco apartment and it fold up to take up very little space. Yaaay! . . I'm 5'1" and have no problems reaching the pedals comfortably. -Notice from W. Cecilia, Maine

I rarely write a product review + or -, unless the product is really good or really poor-i'm also not the easiest consumer to impress. I am happy to write a really good review for the exerpeutic folding exercise bike. I am 6'2' 215 lbs with long legs and cycled quite a bit before injuries and schedules became a bit too busy, so i do know a fair amount about bikes. I thought this might be more of a disposable bike, last a couple of years at best, be too wiggly, weak mechanics. That kind of thing, but quite the contrary, i am happily surprised by the quality of the entire product. The craftsmanship of the exerpeutic folding exercise bike is very good, the frame tubes are heavy steel with good welds, the seat is large enough to have an extended ride comfortably (probably the most comfortable stationary bike seat i've used including expensive gym bikes), the bike has a wide stable "footprint" when opened but is also light enough to move from room to room if needed (has wheels on the base also), the internal mechanics are very good, the bike is very quiet and comfotable with plenty of leg room for proper body mechanics as well, the computer screen readout is practical and easy to see and use. This is in not a "yeah right, what a joke" bike, it is well constructed and was well thought out! i am in no way shape or form associated with the bike company, the seller, online store, or any party related in any way to this product, but i am please to review that i am impressed and very pleased with this bike! . Hope this revew helps anyone in the market looking for a great product at a great price!

- M. MoniqueThis is a really good exercycle for the price! i would give it 5 stars for sturdiness and operation, but it came out of the box with the plastic housing that covers the wheel separated at its seam and misaligned (see photo), which makes the clear plastic protective dome loose (and it can fall off). I would deduct half a star for that. Disappointing, but since my treadmill died, i needed to continue on with my exercise so i decided that these are cosmetic issues that don't affect the bike's operation. . It was extremely easy to put together and was very well packed in the box. All the washers and screws, plus smaller parts and tools were there. The instructions were very clear and no problem to follow. . I am a very tall woman (5'11") with a 34 inch inseam, but that is no problem for this bike. In fact, i ended up having to lower the seat a notch or two. My only problem is a bad hip and knee and it's a little hard for me to get onto it, but that can't be helped. . This bike is amazingly sturdy and very, very quiet. I didn't even have to turn the volume up on my tv, as i've had to do with other stationary bikes in the past. . All in all, i highly recommend this exercycle. Initially, it can't be beat for the price. I've only had it a short while, but will report again if any issues arise.

This bike is a life changing machine for me. I have had 6 surgeries on my spine (lumbar and cervical) since 2002. I have disc bulges in my thoracic, cervical, and lumbar spine right now. I have severe arthritis and degenerative disc disease so needless to say my health isn't up to par. However, i decided to take control of my health by losing weight and getting fit. I don't want to go back to the doctors until i do what i can for my health first. I took it upon myself to get in shape. I quit smoking over a year ago, lost 30 lbs, and have put almost 1000 miles on this bike in less than a year. I am healthier than i've been in 15 years. This bike doesn't cause any pain in my back at all, even with all of the bulging discs. I have found if you want to be healthy, you find a way and do it. I love this bike! this bike is great for those that are already healthy, wishing to maintain their health or people like me who want to be healthy!

Stamina InMotion E1000 Compact Strider

Needless to say, with my 165-pound weight loss, i love, love, love this machine, but as others have pointed out, it's not perfect, and there is certainly room for improvement in a future model. Grab a cuppa while you read about my pedaling adventures . . After decades of fluctuating between "skinny years" and "fat years, " a serious bike accident in 2003 left me almost immobile with daily chronic, severe pain, limited mobility and energy - and tipping the scales at 310 lbs. I spent 5 years experimenting with different at-home exercise gadgets in search of something that i could do comfortably within my mobility and energy limitations and still burn up enough extra calories to make the scale move. Balancing ergonomics with while-you-type exercise gadgets proved challenging because of the clearance required to accommodate the circumference of most pedaling/stepping devices. The lower pedaling circumference of the stamina portable elliptical machine allowed me to have the best of both worlds. . I put it under my desk and pedaled while i worked, at a medium tension, mostly at a 5-7mph rate, off and on throughout the day (not constantly, just whenever i thought about it). I also watched tv while at my desk, so during those times when i would be watching a show or a movie and not needing to focus on work, i would increase the tension a bit and pedal faster, maybe 10-15mph. I averaged about 30 miles total each day on the machine (imo, the mileage setting is a more meaningful gauge of progress than strides or minutes), taking into account that i spend a minimum of 10-12 hours at the computer each day. Most of the time it would take the entire day to get the 30 miles, but during my occasional "movie marathon" sessions, i could easily put in 20-25 miles per movie, and my all-time record is 75 miles in a single day (3 movies plus some computer/work time). :). . The very first month i lost 8 pounds, without changing my very bad eating habits at all! that was the catalyst i had been waiting for, for so long, and i finally got my motivation to start focusing on my diet as well. I changed my eating habits over the next few months, gradually transitioning to mostly healthy food choices as well as paying attention to portions. After 10 months i had lost 80 pounds, and up to that point, this machine was my only form of (aerobic and/or calorie-burning) exercise! . . This machine was a life-changer for me. When i first got it, i was living with a roommate in a loft-style cottage, and my bedroom, bathroom, and office were upstairs. My 24/7 chronic pain was so severe that i often had to go up and down the stairs sitting on my butt, because my knees couldn't handle the stress, and i got too winded if i walked up the stairs. I also couldn't stand for more than 10 minutes or walk more than a block without being in excruciating pain or feeling very winded and totally out of breath. But i could sit and pedal (and work) all day - yay! . . As the scale continued to move downward, my chronic pain and windedness eventually subsided enough to incorporate other exercise into my daily routine, such as lifting weights, walking (usually with walking poles, and only for a definite purpose, like doing errands), and riding my (outdoor) bike (my favorite thing in the world to do). But through it all, i continued to pedal while i sat at my desk. I also continued to tweak my eating regimen, gradually moving toward a 95% healthy, whole-food diet that is mostly an even mix (1/3-1/3-1/3) of (healthy) fats/protein/carbs (mostly low-starch carbs), with occasional "anything goes" splurges. . During this whole weight loss journey (began june 2011; lost 165 pounds by june 2013), i have also gone through multiple stints where, due to various injuries, i was unable to engage in any of my usual exercises or activities. I had several falls in the snow during the harsh winter that left me with multiple injuries (including a torn rotator cuff, severely sprained ankle, and bruised knee), and i also fell down the stairs (spraining my ankle in three places), as well as fell while running on the metrolink platform (falling full force on my knee). While waiting for my body to heal following each of these injuries, i was unable to walk (outdoors) or ride my bike, and in most cases unable to lift weights or put a lot of weight on particular body parts. But in all but one instance (the badly sprained ankle), i was still able to use my portable elliptical and continued losing or at least maintaining my weight while i healed, so it saved the day more than once! . . As others have pointed out, though, as wonderful as it is for my purposes, it is not a perfect machine. I have had a great experience with both of mine, with no problems whatsoever (i eventually got a second one to use elsewhere in the house, which i just sold, because i recently moved and don't have room for it in my new place). I have enjoyed three years of blissfully quiet operation, with no noise issues whatsoever until very recently (july 2014). However, after some exploration, i discovered it was because one of the nuts underneath the stabilizer bar had come loose, and after i tightened it, the noise went away. . That being said, after all this time, if i do end up encountering noise or other operational issues which hinder its use or quiet enjoyment, rather than bother with the expense and hassle of a hit-and-miss approach to identifying and replacing parts, my personal choice would be to simply buy a new machine. That's just me. In my opinion, the $90 i spent for 3-plus years of trouble-free and quiet operation to get my life back was money well spent, with no regrets, and i am happy to do it again. I will always be in love with my elliptical, and i believe it will always have a place in my health and wellness regimen! . . That being said, i do wish that they would design the machine in such a way that it was easy to (1) figure out which part is having trouble and (2) take the machine apart to lube and/or replace a troublesome part. Given the fact that so many people have had issues with noise or breakage, this should be obvious to the designers. I plan to write to the stamina folks to let them know about it, and i would suggest others do the same, because customer feedback does have sway with folks who care to listen, so it's always worth a shot! . . Recommended for sitting down only! . . After taking into consideration what so many other reviewers have said about their experiences, i think i would only recommend this machine for use while sitting down, because if you read through the reviews, although some of the "sitting only" folks have had issues as well, most of the folks who have the most serious issues of breakage or noise or other trouble after a short while are using it while standing. I really don't think a machine of this design, at this price point, can be expected to withstand that kind of weight and pressure over the long term - it's just not robust enough to do that. But sitting down does not put pressure on it - it's just a movement, which does cause some wear and tear, but nothing like pounding on it with 100, 150, 200 or more pounds of pressure for hours every day. . Also, if you do use it sitting down, it's very important that you turn it so that the oval metal part is facing you and the bar is farthest from you (you can pop the led display off and turn it around so that it faces in the right direction if you do that). If not, you could risk causing a lot of pain and possible long-term injury in your ankles, because they will be flexing too much if you try to use it in a sitting-down position with the machine facing forward. Try it both ways, and you'll see the difference. . One commenter pointed out that you need about a 27-28" clearance under your desk to avoid your knees hitting the top of the desk. That is pretty much correct for conventional desk arrangements, but i have found, after much tweaking, that what works better for me is to have a higher desk, with a 34-35" typing surface and a bar-height task chair. I also prefer to use the elliptical with shoes on, because i can use it at a higher tension setting that way - with my shoes off, i find i have to keep it at a lighter setting in order to be able to push off, and i don't think i get as effective a workout with too light a tension. I am 5'6" high, so i don't know how well this would work for shorter folks. . Also, with the higher desk surface, i can occasionally use my computer while standing up, which is also a healthy thing to do. It's easy to create a diy desk of this height by placing a piece of wood or old door on top of some of those 3-tier cubbies you can get from target, walmart, etc. I also have a non-slip grid thing that you put under rugs ($2 at the dollar store) which i put under the elliptical to keep it from slipping out of place. . I have recently moved to a new apartment and once again have a temporary setup. My bar-height task chair broke, so i adapted my standard-height chair to be a little higher until i can get a proper bar-height chair, which i prefer. I also plan to get some other pieces and parts for my workstation that will work with my new decor. Meanwhile, while not the most aesthetically pleasing sight, this temporary setup does the job beautifully. I have posted 2 pics of it in the customer images section, so check that out if you're interested. . Not a fat "torcher, " but definitely a fat "burner"! . . If you are looking for a machine that will "torch the fat" in a short amount of time, this is not going to be it. You are not going to be burning as many calories per hour in a sitting-down position as you would standing upright, so temper your expectations accordingly! at my typical 5mph pace, i estimate that i burn calories at roughly the same rate as a "leisure" bike ride or walk - about 150-200 calories an hour. If i'm going at a faster speed or higher tension, i am sure it's higher than that, but for purposes of calculating my daily calorie burn so that i can align it with my food intake, i always err on the side of caution and estimate in the 150-200-cal/hr range. I've actually converted my calorie-counting for the elliptical based on total mileage rather than clock time, just to make it easier, since that is all i really keep track of, being that i use it off and on throughout the day and don't keep track of my actual pedaling time. . So i guesstimate that i burn approximately 30-35 calories per mile at my 5mph rate (on medium tension), and i bump that guesstimate up to 40-45 calories per mile if i'm going 10-15 mph on medium tension (which i will do if i'm watching a movie) or 50-50 calories per mile if i'm going 10-15 mph at a very high tension. Based on my weight loss-to-calorie-deficit ratio, i think i have been pretty accurate with those assumptions. So, basically, i'm burning, on average, around 1, 000 extra calories a day without having to dedicate additional time to exercise or going to the gym - just doing my normal activities that i would be doing anyway. How cool is that! . . Even at 5mph, it can still help boost your metabolism! . . If you are looking for something to use for "dedicated, " sustained, serious aerobic exercise several hours a week, this machine is not the best choice. If saving space and portability are issues, then i would suggest some other machines that can fold up and go in a closet or under a bed when not in use, but which provide a greater range of motion and calorie-burning yield. . I think the best use for this machine is not for "dedicated exercise, " but instead, for "multitasking exercise" - in other words, a way to burn calories while you're doing something else. Although it's certainly not a "calorie torcher, " the machine serves a great purpose if you are looking for something that can facilitate burning extra calories while in a sustained sitting position and simultaneously engaged in other activities. . In addition to using it while i am at my computer, i used my second elliptical for other activities. I would slide it under the table in the kitchen or dining room during my lengthy once-a-week or once-a-month food prep sessions. So, unlike many folks who end up with swollen, aching feet after standing in the kitchen for hours, i would burn calories instead and have no aches or pains! . . I also created a configuration in my bedroom where i propped it on the side of my bed, with a diy vanity setup (with large mirror) across from (the side of) my bed. I would then plop my blow dryer, curling iron, hot curlers, and makeup on my bed and sit there on the bed and pedal while i did all my morning primping. This worked great during a short stint when i decided to work as a temp outside of the house for a few months (and thus needed to primp every weekday morning), until i decided i'd had enough of temping. :) i would average about 5, sometimes 10 miles during my "primping time" and 10 to 15 miles during the food prep time. . Tone while you pedal! . . I also like to add a little extra oomph to my pedaling, so once or twice a week i will also use my suzanne sommers thigh master gadgets (i still have the originals from 35 years ago! ) while i am pedaling. I have both the original one that you squeeze in as well as the other one that came along later that you squeeze out. I don't actually squeeze them in and out repeatedly (as you would typically do) while pedaling - i just place it between or around my legs and hold it into position while i pedal, for maybe half an hour, and then i'm done. I also sometimes wear my 10-pound leg weights (reduced to 8 pounds after removing two of the sandbars that were hurting my shins) at the same time, and i will keep those on while i walk around the house for a few hours each week. All of those things not only helps to burn more calories, but it adds toning at the same time. . Burn fat while you eat! . . This is one of my favorite tips for getting the most bang for your buck on multiple levels. I was excited to discover a scientific reason to actually validate the health and weight-loss benefit of what i used to see as a mere distraction. So here's the deal . . I'm sure many of you are aware of the fairly recent movement touting the benefits of "mindful eating, " and one tip we hear a lot in that vein is to actually take a break and sit at a table and remove all other distractions while you eat. I totally get while that is a great idea . For some folks. But i have had a very dysfunctional love-hate relationship with food for most of my 61 years. I inhale my food at warp speed, and even with my wealth of knowledge about how and what to eat for optimal health, i still struggle with portion control and eating slowly so that i don't get too full too fast. Perhaps one day i will win that battle and be able to sit down at a table for 20 or 30 minutes and slowly savor and chew each bite a gazillion-billion times before swallowing. But meanwhile, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, and i prefer my plan b eating strategy - create a distraction so that the food is a footnote rather than the main event. Enter my elliptical machine and taptiles! . . A few years ago i purchased an hp envy touchscreen computer with windows 8, which came with taptiles installed. I am so in love with and so addicted to that game! i discovered it was the perfect accompaniment to my meals, because it is fast-paced, requires concentration, and is timed in such a way that i have the perfect interval pace between each bite of food, and while i am definitely enjoying my food, i'm not solely focused on it, and not wolfing it down, which is the most important thing. And the end result is that i feel full at the appropriate time and don't overeat, which is wonderful! . . But on top of that, i am pedaling the entire time, usually at a faster rate than i normally go, because of the adrenaline triggered by playing the game. I do this for 15-20 minutes, until my meal is finished, and then i've had my game fix, my food fix, and some great exercise, and i'm ready to get back to work. And recently i have discovered another great benefit to doing this. . Last year i purchased the sugar blockers diet, which i highly recommend as a tool in your weight loss arsenal. I found that it basically validated my already existing eating regimen, but with the help of the book, i made some minor tweaks to really take my weight loss/maintenance/health to another level. One of the recommendations in the book is to go for a 20-minute brisk walk immediately after eating, because this engages your large muscle groups and sends the message to your body to burn the energy you have just consumed rather than store it as fat for future use. So by pedaling briskly on my elliptical while playing taptiles as i eat my meal, i am accomplishing my ultimate goal of making my body a very efficient fat-burning machine. Yay! . . Of course, this diversionary setup of eating/gaming/pedaling is easily doable as a singleton, and i realize it might not be so practical if you are accustomed to eating with other family members. Social eating is its own pleasant distraction, so that serves a purpose as well and is certainly preferable to eating alone - it just doesn't burn as many calories. :). . I love that i have found a no-brainer way to burn calories while i work, thereby eliminating all excuses for incorporating exercise into my day! . . Based on what we've been hearing for so many years (and are still hearing) about the need for x minutes a day or week of sustained aerobic exercise in order to lose or maintain weight, i'm guessing many people will be skeptical of how it's possible to lose weight while sitting down and pedaling leisurely at a snail's pace of just 5mph. I want to first emphasize that if you only put in 5 miles over the course of the day, you will not see noticeable results - remember that i'm putting in 30 miles per day, even if it takes me 10 or 12 hours to do that! . . The reason i get results is because i am burning more calories all day long by moving more than i would be if i were just sitting sedentary at my desk. Science has proven that if you sit (still) for 20 minutes, your metabolism starts to slow down. But if you move while sitting, you counteract that problem and not only burn more calories in the process, but you keep your metabolism elevated (even if only slightly) all day long. Every little bit helps! studies have also shown that breaking up your exercise into multiple smaller increments is not only just as effective as doing it all at once, but in many cases, it can be even more effective, because it recharges your metabolism. Of course, it's important to remember that you can't exercise away a crappy diet laden with pizza, colas, and cookies. But if you combine this with a healthy diet, it's a win-win situation! . . But do remember you still need to get up out of your chair! . . One final thing i do want to say about exercising while you work, though, is to point out that while this does, indeed, count as exercise, and it's great for (lower body) circulation as well, it is not a cure for excessive sitting. We hear a lot these days about how sitting too long or being sedentary, whether at a desk or watching tv or for any other reason, is killing us. What we don't often hear is the caveat that there are two reasons for that. Incorporating exercise into your sedentary activities certainly helps to address one concern in terms of exercise. But it does not address another important concern - and that is the pressure on your organs from sitting, which is also killing us. Even if you did this for every waking moment that you were sitting, you could still be destroying your organs if you sit too long. . So you still need to be mindful about that and try to get up at least once every 20 minutes, even if all you do is stand and sit right back down. It's not only great for your metabolism, but it relieves the pressure on your organs. You will also find, if you use this machine a lot, that you will need to do that anyway, in order to give your legs a break and loosen them up a bit, because it's no different than any other sustained activity, such as bike riding, skating, kayaking, rowing, or other similar activities - you will feel stiff and achy if you do it for a long time without a break. So take a break periodically and shake it out! stretching helps as well! . . I still have about 30 pounds to go before i reach my goal weight, and i plan to do a blog and some videos about it at that point, because i have incorporated a lot of creative and healthy ways to lose and maintain weight without having to go hungry or feel deprived or spend hours each day in the gym or doing dedicated exercise. Using this little gem of a machine is just one of numerous strategies i've employed in that process, but i credit it with a huge part of my weight loss success, and i am so thankful i discovered it. I literally think it saved my life, and it certainly gave me my life back in terms of quality of life, the way it used to be before the bad bike accident. There are numerous tips i plan to share about how to get the most out of using it when i get my blog going. . Thank you, stamina - i love you guys! oh, and one more thing to add to my wish list for any potential new model: i would love it if you could include a remote/portable digital display that i could put on my desktop, so i don't have to peak down into the dark black hole under my desk every time i want to see how far i've gone. Just sayin' :). . Karen :)

About elliptical trainers elliptical trainers represent the next wave of advancement in low-impact cardiovascular exercise machines and continue to grow in popularity. By simulating motions experienced through walking, stepping, cycling, and skiing, elliptical machines allow for a smooth and fluid motion while building strength in the arms and legs. Similar to the exercise position for treadmills, elliptical trainers are used by standing in an upright position while holding the handrails of the machine. With elliptical trainers, however, your feet remain in the foot pedals throughout the exercise regimen and circulate in a smooth and seamless motion, resulting in little to no impact on the knees, back, and hips. Elliptical trainers are compatible for all ages and fitness levels and allow you to select the difficulty level through the incline and intensity settings. Additionally, elliptical trainers allow you to determine the complexity of your workout based on your needs, all while listening to music, watching television, or reading a magazine while exercising in the comfort and safety of your own home. Although different types of elliptical trainers offer an assortment of features, many of them include an array of challenging programs, forward and reverse directional movement, ekg grip pulse handles, a lightweight portable design with easy fold-up capability, and a monitor displaying calories burned, distance, speed, time, and heart rate.

Stamina 55-1610 Inmotion E1000 Elliptical Trainer (55 1610) FAQ.

I stinking love this thing. I bought it to go under my work desk where i sit all day. I started out looking for a cheap under desk exercise bike but after reading some reviews was concerned about hitting my knees underneath and looking funny while pedaling. Then i cam across this gem. While it is a bit more expensive than i originally wanted to spend, i am so very happy that i chose this. Do yourself a favor and objectively read the reviews before purchasing anything. I am shorter than some at 5' 3", and have no problems what so ever with knees hitting desk, even with a keyboard tray mounted underneath. If you are tall, lowering your chair temporarily would probably do the trick for you. The best part is that i can read and type while pedaling (i am pedaling right now actually! ) the movement is less of an up and down pump that you would have with a bicycle and more of a forward and back gliding motion. Most people don't even notice i am using it when they talk to me, especially when you slow down. I really feel it in my calves and buttocks, especially when standing up after using awhile. It is not hard to pedal, in fact at first i thought it wasn't helping me at all until i stood up. I unexpectedly had spaghetti legs! it also pedals backwards which feels like it works a whole new set of muscles. Backwards is really fun. I have had this for 2 days and have pedaled at work just about all day each time. It feels so good to get some activity while sitting at a desk job. Only problem now is that today is friday and i don't work weekends. May have to get one for home too. . I hope this review helps. If so, please click the "yes" button below. Thanks! -Notice from N. This is a neat little device. I like mine so much that i bought one for my mother for her birthday. . It fits under my desk, so i can sit at my computer and pedal away while i am working or surfing the 'net. It took a little practice, but now i can pedal and type at the same time. I'm actually pedaling now while typing this review! it's not an intense workout - at least not at the resistance level that i have currently set. However, that's not really the immediate goal - it's just to get some light exercise, burn a few calories, improve circulation, and tone my leg muscles while i am sitting at my desk. I can always bump up the resistance over time as i want more challenge. Hopefully by using this on a daily basis i can increase my daily calorie burn a little to help with weight loss and future weight maintenance. (this machine is not my whole weight loss plan; it's just one of several permanent lifestyle changes i'm making. ). . I only use this in a seated position, since most of the reviewers who had difficulty with the machine breaking quickly were using it in a standing position. Also, for me the main point of this machine is to get some exercise *while* sitting. When using this in the seated position, the motion feels more like a stationary bike than an elliptical trainer. It's also nice that the machine can be used in reverse for a little variety and to use your muscles a little differently. . It's very quiet while in use; it just makes a soft whooshing sort of sound. You will hear it in a quiet environment, but the noise is soft enough that you can easily carry on a conversation or watch tv without the sound of the machine being a distraction. I doubt that you would hear it at all over the background noise of a typical office environment. So although i use it at home, i could easily see having one of these under a desk in an office job. . It's a little heavy (about 25 lbs) and doesn't have a handle. So it's a little awkward to move. However, if you can carry the weight safely, it is entirely feasible to move it around with you. For example, if i don't get enough "miles" on the machine while i am at the computer, i can move it in front of the couch and use it some more while watching tv or reading in the evenings, then move it back under my computer desk in the morning. . Since this elliptical trainer is designed to be used while sitting, it can be used by elderly people or others with balance issues to exercise without fear of falling. Also, since the resistance can be set quite low, it can be used by anyone who still has enough strength and coordination to walk at least a little. This is why i got it for my mom. She wants to live independently as long as possible, and to do that she needs to take care of herself - but she tends to sit too much. I'm hoping she'll use it while she's sitting and reading, to get a little exercise, improve her circulation, and hopefully build up her strength and endurance a little. While i'm not expecting miracles, i'm optimistic that this trainer can be a good tool to help her retain her strength and function as long as possible. . So, while this may not be the best tool for fit people to get an intense workout, it is useful for burning a few extra calories while sitting, or to help older, out of shape, or frail people exercise without fear of falling.

- J. CampbellI love this elliptical! it isn't exactly "portable", but i was able to carry it to work on public transportation without killing myself. Set up took about 15 minutes and didn't require tools or more skill than ikea furniture. It's completely silent and i have had people standing at my desk talking to me who had no idea i was even using it. I always tell them about it though and now several other people in my office have bought one. . At first i was only doing 10-15 miles a day before getting tired, or i would find it distracting as my heart rate got up, but now i have the resistance at 75% and i can use it for 4-5 hours a day, logging up to 50 miles on average. I have found a sweet-spot where i can peddle non-stop and i always feel riiiiight on the verge of breaking a serious sweat, so i take a 30 second break every 10-15 minutes just to keep from ruining my make-up. . I've lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks while using this at my desk without other dietary changes. In fact, i've been skipping out on running after work now and then because my legs are sometimes so tired from stepping all day. . The only things i would caution someone considering buying this are 1, if you are using it under your desk, it feels more like a bike than an elliptical and if you have bad knees (like i do) you might feel pressure if you don't have it perfectly aligned with your chair- turning to face a computer screen or talk to someone can turn your knees at a weird angle; 2, the calorie count is complete nonsense- don't rely on it at all, i've found deskcycle . Com has a more accurate calorie count based on other data this machine gives you; 3, sometimes the little step counter keeps running for several minutes after i have stopped moving. I'm not sure if it takes a few minutes to catch up on all the steps i've done (this seems unlikely), or if mine is just a little messed up, but usually if i get up from my desk when it says, say, 3 miles, when i come back a few minutes later it might say 3. 5 miles, so you need to keep an eye on that too if you are trying to track progress. . None of these are serious drawbacks though, and i would absolutely buy this product again. . Edit: i did experience some squeaking that was annoying enough that i stopped using the elliptical for a while. Eventually i missed it though and i pretty much wd-40'd the entire thing. Not sure what was causing the squeak, but it just needed a little grease and it's working great again!

It's definitely easy to put together and very sturdy/durable but it's also really really big. I don't know whose feet would be big enough to fill the pedals but they could have saved some space making them smaller. I didn't follow the instructions in the other reviews and didn't measure anything so i was annoyed at myself when it came because i can't use it under my table without lowering my knees, which is quite awkward. I lugged it into work (it's really heavy) and i had to really lower my chair to use it and even then it's not exactly comfortable. If i'm not paying attention and sit up a little straighter i can really hurt the tops of my legs by hitting them under the desk. Though it does seem to really work my legs it also hurts my back because i have to finagle my posture and seated position so that it fits under my desk. I also tried it without my shoes on but that is pretty painful after a while, you really have to wear some form of shoes to use it. But, if you have a tall table/desk this is a really great thing. The price and quality appear to be great, the design could have been better. Maybe having a couple options with different size pedals would be helpful? this size would be labeled 'clown in huge shoes'. I wear an 8 1/2 women's shoe.

The F.A.Q. for sunny health & fitness no. 045 twister stepper

I have a son with severe adhd. At 5, trying to expend the level of energy he has without a backyard is very difficult, especially when you have a small apartment. His trampoline just couldn't take all the action (plus a kid can only jump for so long before he gets bored). I decided to pick up some more exercise equipment with a small footprint (our indoor trampoline and gazelle machines were already formidable in the living room. ) we got this, a twisting board and a pedaler. The pedaler and this seem to be his new favorites. Ours has the resistance bands as well which he uses to get his whole body moving. It is probably the best of all the equipment at quickly and quietly expending his energy because it seems to require the most effort. Personally, with the exception of a set of resistance bands and a good training program, i doubt there is anything better in this price range that can give a full body aerobic workout with resistance. I use it as well to create a hiit aerobic workout alternating between strength training with resistance bands, this and simple aerobic moves (marching in place, jumping jacks, etc. ). My legs definately feel stronger than using the pedaler. I even have my son with autism who has cordination and balance issues use it. It helps him as well (although getting him to stay on a full 5 minutes is difficult). . Common concerns. . Weight limit. I weigh 250 pounds and have been using it without any issues. Previously i had the the version with handles and also saw no problems. . Time limit. The actual machine did not show the time limit indicated in the description, however, i have used it for up to 20 minutes straight without issue. Usually, as i mentioned, i do circuits so this time limit has never been an issue for me. I do jump on and off a lot within 45 minutes though and have no problems. . Step stride. I'm 6'1" and the stride has never been uncomfortable for me. I think because you step and twist it just isn't a factor.

A number of questions have been asked here.

(0) Question: I have a fit bit. will it count my steps when i use this? ! thanks!

(1) Question: How is this for someone with bad knees? normal bikes and ellipticals hurt, so i'm looking for an alternative.

(2) Question: The product description says you can only use it for 15 minutes or it will overheat. how long before one can resume?

(3) Question: Im a pretty avid exerciser looking for something small in my home. can you really get a decent work out on this thing?

(4) Question: Hello, whats about the physical steadiness ? is it possible to fall from it ?

(5) Question: Do you have a problem with this unit squeaking?

(6) Question: I have a standing desk, can i use this while i type emails and make phone calls? i don't have space for an under the desk treadmill.

(7) Question: Does it also go in reverse?

(8) Question: Is this quiet - i live on a 3rd floor, and i don't want to annoy the neighbor downstairs - we have a wood flooring.

(9) Question: Will this tone mybuttocks and how?

I really like this step machine. I loosened the tension all the way down since i'm not in great shape. It still takes more effort than regular walking but then i'm burning more calories, too. It began to squeak shortly after i purchased it but some wd-40 (as another reviewer recommended) fixed it and i haven't heard anything since. It is not flimsy so it feels like it will last for a long while. I don't really care for the counter. I use a step app instead. I am just starting to use it more regularly and want get up to 20, 000 steps/day to lose some weight from being so sedentary. Very easy to watch tv, read and even play games on my phone or tablet while using it.

This is a heavy duty little piece of equipment, it doesn t feel cheap or scary to be on, well made, solid and sturdy. Works great for me at 130 lbs and for my large husband at 240. It was too tight with the resistance at the beginning but my husband put wd-40 on the hydraulics and it s working great now- i can get it going for a brisk walk. Still takes a lot of muscle! feels like hiking up a hill. After 5-10 minutes the steps loosen more so you can really get moving.

I absolutely love this thing! use it every day at the office when feel like bringing my hr up. You can surely feel the burn right away! it's sturdy and very stable, easy to stow as well. Worth every penny-hopefully will last for life.

I just received the twist stepper today, and i thought id write a quick review on my first impression. Pros:. -looks fairly well made and sturdy. -the arm straps are adjustable, and they give excellent resistance. -the stepping resistance is adjustable and gives a really good workout. -the computer turns on and off automatically. . Cons:. -the step feels like baby steps. Not horrible, but worth noting. -the instructions say to limit workouts to 10-15 mins? wth? . Im assuming thats to prevent a heat build up from friction, but 15 mins? . . It seems like a good buy and will do exactly what i want it to do. I want to workout every day with enough resistance to maintain my body weight. Its portable enough that i can use it in any room, so chances are i will end up using it very regularly. Thanks for reading! . . *update*. I emailed sunny health and fitness about the 15 minute time limit on work outs. They told me that the people who wrote the instructions took some creative license with this stipulation, and that the machine can handle an hour workout or whatever. That made me feel better about my purchase. Thanks!

I love this. I'm trying to get back into shape now that it's finally warming up. I want to lose maybe 10-15 lbs, tone up. Basically get ready for summer. And this piece of equipment is great way to get a workout in small spaces. It's heavier than i thought it would be, which is a good thing because that means it's sturdy and won't fall apart when i'm on it :). My only complaint is that the workout bands that are attached that you hold onto aren't adjustable. They're a little too long for my liking. There's probably a way to fix that, but i haven't figured it out yet. I actually think that not using the bands gives you a better workout; you have to move your arms more and keep your core tight. It gives you a "i'm taking a nature hike up a mountain" feeling haha. However, the tension of the steps is adjustable, so you can make the resistance as loose or tight as you want. I recommend these steps for most people who want a good cardio workout at home without spending a ton of money. *this is not for people who are even a little unstable on their feet. Seriously, you will fall off if you don't have it pushed up against the wall or have something to hold onto other than the exercise bands*. Otherwise it works great :)

I hate big bulky exercise equipment, and this is perfect! i don't want a stepper or treadmill taking up valuable real estate in my home, nor do i want the eyesore (since the larger equipment tends to become a clothes hanger of sorts and takes up a lot of floor space! ). I bought the one with the hand pulls, but i find i don't like them as well as using small free weights. However, i'm sure there is a benefit to using the hand pulls, like for different resistance, so i likely don't know what i'm talking about. But, i do know that i get in a good workout, and since it's so small and out of the way, i leave it in a convenient spot and find that i use it more often since i don't have to get it out, put it away, etc. (out of sight, out of mind! ). The pedometer doesn't light up, and my eyes are too old to see it without bending down, so i use my exercise watch instead, but it does seem to keep a good record. Also, the fact that the pedals push out versus just going up and down seems to make it a lot more comfortable and easy to maintain balance. This stepper may look innocuous, but you get a very high lift, and you don't want to fall off! i would recommend using it next to a chair or something else you can grab on to until you get the hang of it for balance. Overall, i get an excellent cardio workout in addition to valuable upper body strengthening. I love this little gem!

This is a great compact machine for working leg muscles while watching tv. It reminds me of standing while pedaling a bike. Don't worry about the few people who say it's not a workout. You're not a triathlete, right? this gets your heart rate going after a few minutes and definitely strengthens the legs. It's an added bonus that it's small enough to stow it in the closet.

F. Beale, Stockton-on-Tees

We live in a very small condo in chicago and this device is perfect for stashing and bringing out for a quick workout. Sometimes we use it while watching movies, so now what was once passive activity has become very productive. I recently raised my computer so that i can stand and work and have had a great experience using the machine while working (especially reading and reviewing emails). I'm fairly busy these days and it's nice to be able to get additional exercise without having to actually add time to my day. Not to mention, for me, i think better while in motion. A great deal of my work is creative so it keeps me on my toes. . The goods:. -extremely affordable - excellent price. -stable, built to last. -small. -lightweight. -has a timer. -tracks calories. . The bads:. -the tension bands aren't adjustable and just are not as resistant as i would have liked them to be. -after some use the resistance wheel heats up and it gets substantially easier. Your real workout starts in first 10 minutes. After about 30 min. You've lost probably 60% of the original resistance. It just doesn't have a strong longevity for workouts. . Honestly, the problem of the loss of power in the workout would be enough to lower my rating to a 3. However, it is exceptional in its ease of use, convenience and price point, that gives this unit an edge and therefor an extra (deserved) star.

I am very happy with this stepper. I have a disability in my back and also get recurring dvts and pes, so i really need to keep my body from being too sedentary. If this was easy to do right away i would be disappointed in it. The tension is great along with the hand help straps. I need strength and i believe this will help me in my legs and elsewhere as well as getting my balance back. I already fell off backward so i need to watch myself until i gain that sense of balance. I'm seeing a chiropractor and he knows all i am doing to try to help. I also have dumbells and a pilates ring which i need to do a review on. But i am very pleased with this purchase. No squeaks. I'll use w-d 40 once a month as it says to. I know as i keep using it my strength will come and i can tighten up the tension. I would recommend this especially for a first-time buyer like me unless you are way high on the fitness scale and looking for a more intense workout. But this has good tension for the legs to get a workout and cardio too. . June 1, 2017. Addendum i have found that my sense of balance needs help. I have fallen backward about 4 times with this stepper. So if you have balance problems i would definitely go with the handle bars. I have even bought some piping to use to hold onto but not being stationary it does not do the job right. I know it seems like a waist but i am going to invest in the one with handlebars. I'm so afraid i am going to break my neck yet i do need this type exercise.

I am an avid online store shopper and try to always wait until i've had and used a product for a reasonable amount of time prior to reviewing (no matter how many email requests i get lol). . So i bought and started using this little gizmo in july 2016. I will admit it came while my sis was here taking care of my animals and home, while on business trip, so she put it together for me. She said it was not hard. . I wanted something that would be better and more fun than walking in place. I wanted to get more steps in my day due to i have a very sedintary work from home job. . First thing i did however was remove the bungee hand things. They were just really in my way and i prefer hand weights as they are easier to "feel balanced". . I will agree with some of the reviews that have said when you first start the tension is much higher than after you walk on it for a while. However, that has not stopped me from going from averaging 2k steps in july to averaging 12k now in december. One thing i like to do is "exaggerate my walking stance" meaning i really put my hips and waist into the action. . Will you find better stairsteppers? absolutely! will you find one for 45 bucks? highly unlikely. . If you are looking for minimal investment but are like me and need something to get you moving, i would recommend this. . If you are an athlete looking for more home gym equipment this is not for you. Go spend 4 thousand on the real thing ; ). . I am 56, female, about 90 pounds overweight when i got this in july and with calorie deficit diet and increase in activities i've lost 20 pounds. (had eye surgery that had me sedentary for aug&sept even) i hope to someday be able to afford a super nice elliptical / stepper but in the meantime this little baby has been worth every penny. . Thanks and good luck :)

Date: 01/07/14. I bought this after considering several compact exercise machines available for online store prime shipping. I finally settled on this one based on the ratings and recommendations. But, i was still a little skeptical. I've used machines like this before and they have a bad habit of sinking to the floor on the piston/pump underneath the foot pedals and then being impossible to coax back up. . I was pleasantly surprised by this machine. But, i'll go point by point. . 1. This machine has a fly wheel just below and between the pedals and that is the secret (that seems to work for now) to making sure that one pedal is up when the other is down. 2. It's heavy, but not too heavy to make moving it around my small bedroom inconvenient. The weight of the base is what makes it stable. 3. I was unsure of the lack of a handlebar, but that's not so bad once you use it. The lack rather forces you to engage your core muscles just a little to stay balanced. You aren't positioned to lean forward the way you are with some of the compact elliptical machines. 4. The adjustable tension does make a difference-there are some machines out there where adjusting the tension doesn't make much of a difference. 5. I definitely got more than i expected out of the step counter. It's linked to a magnet, so it does give pretty accurate readings. It only uses one aaa battery that's included. 6. The resistance bands are going to take a little getting used to-i need to find the proper rhythm and gait. But, i can definitely see the benefit in having them. For today, i used some wrist weights and that was a little added kick to my workout. 7. I did 25 minutes today and i can surely feel the burn in my thighs, glutes, and a little in my tummy. It's more intense than i figured. . I will update if anything goes wrong.

T. Smith, Hertfordshire

It hasn't killed me. Yet. Day 2 the pretend computer died. Well, didn't die. It still displays but it doesn't actually count anything, doesn't keep track of the time, doesn't scroll through the modes. Just sits there w 2 steps and a minute or so of time. Resetting doesn't do anything, removing the battery, nope. I didn't buy it for the what ever on earth you want to call it. Good thing too. It really is a nice little stepper and i'm truly impressed by anyone doing more than 15 minutes on it. I don't think i have the tension set to far and maybe i'm way more out of shape than i realized. I really feel it right above my knees and it does a good job of getting my heart rate up. If it twists you can't convince me. The instruction manual has nothing about it. Unless they consider the way the foot pedals are set slightly off kilter (which does make it feel much more natural and comfortable. I can't see where there's a bit of twist to it.

C. Finch, Minnesota says

I can't help but give this a 5 star rating. . I started off at 260lbs at the age of 19 when i acquired my first. I was unaware of the weight limit, so i ordered a replacement after snapping the plastic portion. Following which, i kept a steady pace, and somewhat cut back on my meals. I replaced my occasional soda with coffee, and ate a bit less when it came to sweets. Nothing much changed there, but my metabolism kicked in after this process initiated. . From the month of october to april of the following year, i dropped several trouser sizes, along with going from xxl shirts to m. . My routine consisted of performing about 2, 000 steps a day every other day. Sometimes it was skipped, but it only required an hour or so each time. There's nothing like kicking on fast pace music and jogging to this. This is my third purchase of the machine due to me flying to a different state about a month ago. . It becomes squeaky over time, but wd-40 fixed said issue.

T. Linda, Hessen

I just received this and it set up fairly easily. I worked out for 30 minutes and was sweating profusely! i think it's great that i can workout in front of the tv in this hot weather. It didn't get too hot either. Only one suggestion, for some reason, when i went to attach the cable, it was impossible until i lifted the other pedal instead. I had lifted the right pedal and tried to insert the cable. When i put the right pedal down and lifted the left, it was then possible to attach the cable. Just fyi, in case anyone else has trouble.
