Wow, absolutely nothing bad to say about this bike. I just got it a week ago and my son already puts up his feel and rolls down hills. He caught on so fast and he loves riding his bike everyday. Love that he can pick it up himself because it's super lightweight. Please start your little ones here instead of bikes with training wheels. Strider - 12 sport balance bike, ages 18 months to 5 years Review (st s4bl p)
I thought this bike might have been a mistake when i first gave it to my 3 year old. Boy was i wrong! it took him about 2 days to figure it out and then he was off like crazy. So much better than a bike with training wheels! . Ironically, i had my 5 year old ride this to learn how to balance. Once i saw he was good at it (just a few days) - we pulled out his bike that we had taken the training wheels off of months earlier and he literally got on it and rode away. Needless to say i'm a huge fan! -E. Mable

- 12 sport balance bike, ages 18 months to 5 Sports, Encourage your child to ride with a strider bike. when learning to ride, a child must be allowed to experience the feel of leaning and how steering affects the balance of the bike. when a child learns to ride without leaning, such as on a tricycle or bike with training wheels, they aren't really learning to ride at all. with the help of a balance bike, the child can learn how to balance and ride a bike in the most simplest way. Strider - 12 Sport Balance Bike, Ages 18 Months To 5 Years (ST-S4BL-Strider).
While my daughter is still proving to be a little short for this, i am very pleased with the bike. It was shipped very well packaged, and easy to put together. It is light enough for her to handle right now, and we are only a couple of weeks from her being able to easily use it. She is on the shorter side of the curve, and just barely is too short. She seems to like it though, and just wishes she could use it. This is one of the lighter bikes on the market, and it makes it easy enough for her to hold up. . I have done lots of research, and even looked at some much more expensive big name options, but this in my opinion is the way to go. We got it with the extra seat, but mainly we wanted it for the padded seat and handle bar.

We've had this bike for several months now, and my 5 year old daughter is the main rider. The bike arrived fast and in the uni-sex color orange i decided on. Assembly was very simple: the tires attached to the rims which bolted onto the frame, then the seat and handlebars as well. I assembled this late at night to surprise my kids in the morning, and after assembling the bike i was wishing i could shrink myself so i would be able to be the first to ride it, it looked so inviting. This bike feels very sturdy, but i didn't want to put my full 160 lbs onto this little thing. Like the specs state, this bike weighs somewhere between 5-8 lbs, light enough that my daughter will carry this thing. She enjoys scooting around on this bike, and actually prefers it to her peddle bike, but probably because this bike looks cooler. The seat is getting short for her at this point, and strider offers many custom parts (colored rims, handlebars, etc) including higher seats which i may have to get soon. Overall i am very pleased with this purchase."
Giro Me2 Infant/Toddler Bike Helmet
Giro me2 infant/toddler bike helmet
Giro-Infant-Toddler-Bike-HelmetMake sure your kids have a fun and safe ride with the giro me2 bike helmet for infants and toddlers. In addition to several colorfully fanciful designs-including yellow chicks, aviator pigs, pink bunnies, and red duck and goose-the helmet features 20 vents (protected with a built-in bug net) to help to keep your child's head cool. It also features giro's mini-loc fit system with simple strap guides that enable your kid to put on the helmet without pinching skin. There's soft padding inside that feels great and a built-in visor for a bit of shade. This helmet is adjustable, enabling it to grow with your child. It's sized for infants and toddlers with heads measuring 18. 75 to 20. 5 inches in diameter. 20 vents with built-in bug netting keep your child's head cool. Giro's mini-loc fit system features simple strap guides. Fitting a helmet here are some guidelines to getting the best fit for a bike helmet. Eyes: the rim of the helmet should be up to 1 to 2 finger widths above the eyebrows ears: the straps should form a v under just beneath the ear lobe mouth: when the rider opens her mouth, the buckle should feel snug on the chin and the helmet should hug the head before using the helmet, stand in front of the mirror and grab the helmet with both hands and twist it to the left and to the right. If the helmet fits right, the skin on the forehead will move as the helmet moves. If it does not, then the helmet is too loose and is unsafe for use and you need to start over. About giro working late nights in his garage, designer/bike racer jim gentes created the first lightweight adult cycling helmet in 1985. Friends at nasa helped tune the final helmet shape and vent placement, and the result was the giro prolight, a helmet that was better looking than traditional designs while offering a superior fit and still met the industry's toughest safety standards. Plus, it was half the weight of traditional helmets. Since then, giro has advanced its helmets, many of which have set the standards for styling, function, and innovation for progressive, performance-oriented riders on dirt, pavement, and snow. Giro helmets are worn by millions of riders, cyclists, skiers, and snowboarders around the world. Young-bloods and old-timers; hard-cores, heshers, and hipsters; rookies, experts, and a few regular joes too-in fact, pretty much anyone that appreciates superior fit and function, cutting edge styling, and the very best ideas you get in a helmet.

The F.A.Q. for strider - 12 sport balance bike, ages 18 months to 5 years
Ok first of all it wasn't clear in the description but this bike does come with the bigger seat as well as the little seat so that a child can ride this up to 5 years old. . The bike itself is very very light, my little munchkin can pick it up with ease. He was trying to get on the bike before i had it completely put together lol. . The frame is very sturdy, my only real complaint is that the seat clamp doesn't seem to get as tight as it needs to be because the seat has shifted very slightly but my son can be extremely rough on it so that may not happen to all of them.
A number of questions have been asked here.
Q&A
(0) Question: What is the actual height from ground to seat top? it says 18m-5y but it would be more helpful to just know the lowest seat height!
Answer: I gave the strider as a gift to my 3 year old grandchild. However, the bicycle comes with a brochure showing the seat height range is: 11 - 16 in. This is measured using the xl seat post. The handle bar height range is: 18 - 22 in.
(1) Question: Is the sport worth the $20 upgrade over the classic version? is this bike good for a child 36 inches tall?
Answer: The sport version fits children 30" to 44" tall, all in one package. 18 months old to 5 years old. The sport model includes the extra long seatpost and padded saddle ($15 value), plus has easy-adjust no tool adjustment of the handlebar and seat heights ($18 value), and a handlebar pad that just might save you hundreds the sport version fits children 30" to 44" tall, all in one package. 18 months old to 5 years old. (2) Question: Are these bikes suppose to balance/stand on their own? my understanding was that balance bikes "balance" so that young toddlers can learn to ride.

We let our grandson watch the youtube videos & get excited watching other children, before we introduced him to his "his" new bike. Watching the others seemed to "inspire" him. He is still in the pushing stage. He has had it for a few weeks. The inclimate weather has limited his practice time. He turns 2 in three weeks.

(9) Question: How much does it weigh? what age group is it geared for?
Answer: I don't know the exact weight, but it certainly isn't very heavy. My grandson at 20 months could drag it and lift the front off the ground (he is a big 22-month old, though). He was 22 months when i bought is for him and could manage it just fine when he first got it. He is just turning 2 and loves it. He lives in madison, wi, and i saw the little skis that go with it, so i bought them-and they are easy to put on and off and lots of fun on ice and snow. I think the strider would work well for kids until they want to ride a bike. This strider came with another seat that sits taller. I'm sure my grandson will be using it eventually. I hope this helps.
(note) Question: where/how to get Strider (manufacturer's brand) accessories & similiar Strider's products
I bought this bike and the extension seat when my son was having trouble learning to ride a two wheeler. I can honestly say that with it, he taught himself to ride a two-wheeler. It's a great invention that helps with their balance with their feet in a natural position to catch their fall. They gradually learn to balance better and eventually don't put their feet down. I heavily recommend this at the younger ages, though, as it is quite small for a child over about 5 years old. The extension seat worked until my son and daughter were about age 7. After that, the seat post is simply too short for most kids.
Best strider - 12 sport balance bike, ages 18 months to 5 years (st s4bl p) in review
I didn't know if this strider would actually be big enough for my 5 year old because he's off the charts size wise. However, the larger seat is maxed out and still able to be durable with his 60 plus pounds. He was riding a two wheel bike after one week. Highly recommend this! wish i had known about it sooner. He still rides it occasionally and we are about to give it to the neighbor's 18 month old with the smaller seat.

I was tempted to buy one of those cute wooden balance bikes, but then i saw a review that said this strider was better for real use because the kids will want to go through dirt and probably puddles and wet grass. Etc. The strider is a real bike for a toddler. We gave it to my son when he was just 18 months, and the seat could be put low enough for him to use right away (he's average height). He learned how to use it immediately! he just turned 2 years old. We have moved the seat up a little, but there is still plenty of room to grow. He has already taught himself how to glide so he can really get going fast and then pick his feet up and glide. He definitely needs the helmut now! people always see him and are shocked at how good he is, but he is just teaching himself how to balance. The best part for me about the strider is that it is very lightweight. When we go on walks, my son will start out on his bike, and he can go about a mile. Then he gets in the stroller, and i put the bike on top of the stroller and get to go on a longer walk for me!
Q. Lorenz, New Hampshire
This is a very high quality lightweight balance bike. My son used this bike for a year before transitioning to pedal bike at age 4. The transition to a pedal bike was very easy since he was used to balancing with the strider. This strider sport costs more because of the additional seat with the extended seatpost that it comes with so kids can ride it for longer before outgrowing it. My son never used the extended seatpost because he transitioned to a pedal bike before he needed the higher post (he was 39 inches tall when he started riding a pedal bike). In retrospect, i should have bought the strider classic without the extended seatpost and saved some money.
S. Lorenz, Utah says
Wow! we are believers! we bought this for our 2 year old for her birthday. At the time, our 6 year old was still struggling with her balance on a bike without training wheels. We let our 6 year old play around on this balance bike when we got it and within a few days she was zipping all over the place on her own bike. I can't believe how quickly and effectively it helped her learn to balance on her own bike. . The story doesn't stop there. Our 4 year old loved playing on this bike, too. Within a couple of weeks, we had her training wheels off of her bike and she was racing around the neighborhood. . I don't think we will ever put training wheels on another bike again. This truly is a brilliant concept. I wish that i had one of these when i was a kid.
G. Crawford, South Tyneside
This bike was a birthday gift for my 2 year old grandson. I had it delivered to his house. It arrived well packaged and as promised. The bike came in a few sections/pieces that were very easy to assemble. No tools required! bike was solidly built and well painted. Took my grandson out to the park a couple of days after his birthday to attempt his first ride. It was very easy for him to "get the hang of it" in a few minutes. While there, a young mother walked by to said she had the same bike for her son who is now 5. She said he has been riding his strider since he was 2 and still uses it daily. She loves her strider too.
Z. Patton, Newfoundland and Labrador says
This bike is super cute. And the quality is there. My son just never really got the lifting up you feet and balancing to ride. So he would just kind of walk with it. We ended up just getting a traditional bike
H. Pete, Enfield
I had this as four stars, but you'll see a comment from a company rep below. I had a *minor* issue with the steering, and received a prompt comment on this post. In my book, that warrants a five star review! so happy to see such amazing customer service, espeically since nothing is wrong with the bike, i just had a question. Here's the rest of my original review:. Assembled it without issue, and the seat is low enough for our 18-month old girl. She's tall for her age, but not *that* tall. I tried several other bikes that were still too high, so was glad the strider worked. The handlebars, wheel, & everything are all connected, but i had to make it pretty tight so the tube wouldn't slip through the upright part of the bikes' body when turned. Except now it's super tough to turn the handlebars. My husband and i are both cyclists, so i think some of our normal bike grease will work it out, but it seemed unusual. Otherwise, the bike is sturdy without being too heavy, and seems great for our little one!

My 2 yr old hasn't gotten off it since i gave it 2 him. He loves it.
Y. Watson, Walsall
My 2yr old grandson loves this bike. I bought it because it is the same bike uses in his pt appointments. It is very light so he is able to maneuver it easily. I did research on different brands and overall strider has all of the best features. I assume this is why dr office uses this model.
B. Alberta, Calderdale says
This is it! these are the first bikes you want for you child! i am blown away by these beautiful, quality bikes. They are worth every penny. They are solid, yet lightweight, adorable. I bought these for my twin boys 2nd birthday. I know they are going to love them. They are fully adjustable and took me literally like 3 minutes to assemble with zero tools. I love the beautiful paint finish and look of them. You will not be disappointed with these strider balance bikes
O. Nellie, Reading
Our son loves his strider! we didn't really take too much time researching other brands, as this one came recommended from a friend, and we are glad we made our purchase. We bought this for our son on his second birthday, and while he didn't use it all that much when we first bought it, he has an absolute blast on it now. He prefers it on flat surface for now. The bike is well made, easy to put together, and holds up to his play time with it. The only thing to caution is the wheels don't grip very well on slippery surfaces (our son rides mostly in our house on hard wood floors) and he has had a few wipe outs because of it. Over all, he loves picking his feet up and practicing his balance as he zooms through the house.
P. Allen, Gateshead says
Our 2-year-old was very nervous about trying this bike at first. However, after a day or two, he loved it. After about a week, he was cruising around pretty quickly. He is learning to steer and balance and will gladly ride this around the neighborhood for 15 to 20 minutes. He is not to the point where he actually rests his feet on the bars, but i figure that will happen over time. . The bike itself is extremely easy to put together. I appreciate that it is the lightest balance bike on the market (makes it really easy for a two-year old to maneuver). At this point, we don't feel the need for him to have a helmet either, since he's not cruising at worrisome speeds. Would highly recommend this bike to anyone with a 2-year-old and that is trying to sift through the overwhelming number of balance bikes on the market.
