Introduction

Such a great hot weather shoe. Probably a great wet terrain shoe, too, due to all the mesh. I've been won over from the gtx/goretex stuff to the "just let it flow through you(r shoe)". I haven't done a river crossing yet, though, so i can't say with certainty how good they may be. I would wager heavily that they will be my best yet. Only caveat is, while the soles are fairly grippy, i've had much better grip from cheaper shoes. . If these are anything like any of my other merrell's, durability won't be a problem. The toe box is wider than most, which i love, but i can still cinch tight the arch/instep. Heal cup fits well, or at least i didn't notice any pressure points. . All-in-all, a fantastic shoe. Merrell Men's All Out Blaze Aero Sport Hiking Water Shoe Review (j65099)

I love these shoes! . I bought these a week before a camping/hiking trip in southern utah. I broke the cardinal rule of shoes/boots and didn't get the time to break them in. I didn't wear them more than 48 hours before my trip. Then all day every day for 4 days hiking over 50 miles in sand, rocks and water. They performed magnificently. -laces: the laces stayed tied and i could yank them tight or leave them a little loose as needed. -mesh: the mesh on the toe pocket and sides was enough to let the water out but no pebbles got in on the entire trip. (amazing) i will say that the mesh let sand in, but it was marginal and i'm not sure how that can be avoided. Plus it's kind of a right of passage to be able to dump sand out when you are done for the day. -socks: i did wear these with ankle socks on days when we weren't in water. (fwiw). -tread: i was always able to get grip on rocks unless there was standing sand on it. Even descending sandstone faces as long as the angle wasn't too steep i was fine not using any hands to brace myself. I will admit i felt a little like legolas being able to walk on the side of a rock. -toe pocket: the toe pocket is great. Fits like a merrell fits. Awesome. - fit: overall, i was really pleased with the fit. It was tight enough to stay on with out shifting, but not too tight. I always worry about that with shoes designed to be used in the water and some from other brands tend to loosen up when wet or become super slippery. These did not. Even when wet they had enough traction and felt snug on my feet. . There you have it. Great pair of shoes all around! -T. Claudia

I bought these along with the merrell all out blaze sieve water shoe because i wanted something i could wear fishing, hiking, etc. In the summer when i may want or need to walk through some water. I ultimately ended up returning these because i liked the sieve better. These are definitely more of a shoe style whereas the sieve is more of a sandal. They are very lightweight and airy - it is very apparent that water will drain out of them quickly. However, i still couldn't get over the idea of still having wet socks in them. The vibram soles would be good for being surefooted on submerged or wet rocks, but it was a little bulky for my taste. If money wasn't a concern, i probably would have kept both shoes, but the sieve seemed better for my uses. I would use these more for hiking and the sieves for fishing or boating.

Click to see NoticeMerrell Men's Out Blaze Aero Sport Hiking Water Shoe (j65099)"Sizing: i had to buy a 1/2 size smaller than i normally would to make sure it was snug. (i didn't want these slipping off when i was walking through mud. ) despite being a 1/2 size smaller than i normally wear, these were still comfortable. . Performance: i bought these specifically for tough mudder 2016 and purchased these a month before the event for break-in. Lots of jogging on concrete/asphalt, lots of baseball practices, lots of hiking on nature trails. These were comfortable from day 1! broke-in very nicely (but they were comfortable from the first day already. ). . Tough mudder: these handled awesome on all the different terrain from northstar at tahoe: mud, rocks, dirt, water. These grip! yes, these did lose grip in the pyramid scheme obstacle but that obstacle was meant for your shoes to lose grip (jump into muddy water before getting on the slick incline). . The everest - i was able to run up the wall high enough to where i could securely grab another mudder's hands to be pulled up and over. . Water obstacles: in all honesty, i am not as strong a swimmer with shoes as opposed to barefoot, but i was still able to swim comfortably because the shoes are light and does not soak up water like normal running shoes. These shoes drained water quickly and easily (you need that for tough mudder). Due to the many water obstacles, these shoes were damp not soaking wet. If it was hotter than 50s/60s, i'm sure these would have dried. . I fully expected that these shoes would be ruined base on what experienced mudders have told me. After the race, i hosed myself down as well as the shoes and the shoes looked fine. Got home. Gave a thorough cleaning and it still looks good. Yes, there are some stitching that has come loose (like old well used shoes) but it has not compromised fit, comfortablness, or performance. They still work awesome. . When these shoes wear out and need to be replaced, i will be buying thsee again. . One final note: i did not get these shoes for free or at a deep discount in exchange for my honest review. Lol. I paid normal online store price for these. This review is truly unbiased and unpaid for."

So impressed with these shoes! recently hiked 17 water miles in one day in them and my feet hardly hurt at the end of the day (my feet always hurt at about 10 miles in my regular hiking boots)! i was concerned about them letting too many rocks and sand in but my friend i was hiking with was complaining about rocks and sand in her shoes and i didn't have that problem at all! they almost wear like a light tennis shoe and had great traction for the rock hopping i was doing all day. Can't say enough good about them!

Merrell Women's Out Blaze Aero Sport Hiking Water Shoe (j65036) FAQ.

I just got these in today and wore them to the gym to start breaking them in. I didn't intend for them to be a shoe i regularly lift weights in, but they might end up being my go-to. The arch support is fantastic and the grip is great. I can't wait to test them out in the creeks this summer, but since it's december it'll have to wait. (i shall update when i have more information. ). . I wear a size 7. 5, and was worried they were too large when i tried them on. I have narrow feet, and they seemed too roomy. But, after asking the internet, you should have about a half inch in your toe box from your big toe, and i had exactly that. After getting to the gym and moving around in them, i was happy i didn't exchange for a smaller size. . They are a little heavier than i anticipated (i'm used to wearing new balance minimus - also explains why i at first thought they were too large), and the mesh is semi see-through (just barely-you can almost see my toes in the toe-only picture, but it's a little dark). . I look forward to testing the limitations of these shoes. So far i'm happy and definitely think they're a good value for just around $60. -Notice from W. Adrienne, Plymouth

This slate pair of merrells is a replacement pair. I have the parachute purple and love them. In fact i love them so much i wear them everyday in all kinds of weather. I wear them for my daily running around, for hiking, fishing and whatever. They are lightweight and very comfortable. The traction is excellent in all conditions, especially wet slick conditions. I have had the purple pair for about 1-1/2 years now. I am replacing them only because the footbed is wearing out. The shoes themselves are very durable and easy to clean. I wear them in the winter (in ga) with a pair of hiking socks and don't worry about cold feet. The arch fits my foot perfectly so i don't have to wear insoles (for flat feet). No break in period needed. I had to order a half size bigger than my normal shoe size for a perfect fit. Love love love them!

- G. CandyBought these for my girlfriend and while we haven't really put them through their paces yet (we're going take these to zion next week) she finds them very comfortable. Took them for a hike the other day and she was sad that they were dirty afterwards because she really likes the color. . Our only problem with these is that they run a half size too big. I experienced this issue with mine as well that i purchased outside of online store. She's a 6 in every other shoe and needed a 5. 5 in these. I'm normally an 11 in every other shoe and i needed a 10. 5 in these. . Will update this review as we get more use in them.

I absolutely love these shoes! i have never bought a pair of hiking shoes that didn't give me blisters. Out of the box, these never have given me even one blister. I hiked the grand canyon, rim-to-rim, 24 miles without a single blister:)

These run big i was worried weather these would be wide enough because i wear a ee. But no problem plenty wide and toe space was ample. Slippery on tile floors when wet. Not good for sand due to open design. I bought these to use in water at ocean but never did because of the sand issue. I do wear these on weekends and out shopping with no show socks. Very comfortable. I'm happy with these even though could not use as i intended to

Merrell Men's Out Blaze Sieve Water Sandal (Shoes) FAQ.

First, i almost never leave product support but i am a huge fan of these water sandals. I started off shopping for $20 water shoes. Hoping to score a good pair for a cheap price. What you get is something that falls apart or has no arch support. I stumbled on these and thought "no way" i won't pay this much. Then i started thinking about all the times i was planning to wear these over the summer. The longer i thought about it the more it made sense to pay a fair price for a very versatile pair of sandals that could work in the water or for every day. As the summer draws to a close, i can give great feed back on these. First i wore them on a three day canoe/camping trip. I didn't need any other shoes and just wore these the whole time for canoeing and swimming. Next excursion, i wore them all day to a water park / amusement park (worked great everywhere). Two weeks later i wore them to a cabin in the mountains for swimming in the mountain creek. Additionally, i wore them as my quick slip on sandals for around the house, going out shopping etc. They still look great after all that fun. -Notice from S. Teresa, Louisiana

I bought these shoes to wear to cedar point amusement park. They fit great. They kept my feet cool, and they dry quickly. I also wore them to the gym once, just to see if they'd be good "mud run" shoes. I can run in these, no problem. It's a good shoe. I'm an athletic sneaker-holic, with flat feet, so not only am i hard on shoes, i'm also very critical of them. I'd buy these again.

- X. JulianaAn amazing "shandal". The fit is as expected, i got a 10. 5 expecting a loose fit and my toes were touching, a quick return and 11 were on point. I took a week long vacation to the dominican republic and these shoes took the beating and never game me any grief. Sand at the beach, no big deal it washes out, hiking through the woods and streams your toes are completely protected, and one night outside and they are dry and ready to go again.

While i only received these today i immediately took a hike through varied terrain (i live in the country), i wanted to post review number one because one of the biggest issues i had was what the heck size to order once i had narrowed my choice down to this shoe. It's unbelievable how many opinions there are. Almost as many as the number of different feet out there! in a nutshell, i wear a 10 and i have a wide foot. I almost ordered a half size larger but that would have been a mistake. Fit perfectly right out of the box and adjusted wonderfully in that years ago i broke my ankle and my left foot is now a bit larger than my right foot. I got these to replace my worn teva's. I have not previously had 'lace' type footwear, but it's great. I can totally adjust my left foot to an excellent comfort level. Unlike my teva's (which i could adjust) it's not just a strap, it's the whole. So no pressure points as they are diffused. I read so many reviews on so many different products, and finally narrowed it down to these. I'm not a river guide, i travel a lot in asia and i wanted highly ventilated footwear that i could wear all day, and if there's water so be it. I usually do a lot of city walking, but i have to say these vibram soles are amazing. I walked through gravel areas and was amazed at the ability of the vibram soles to absorb sharp rock. Walked down the asphalt driveway and experienced a comfortable support. In sum, unless something weird happens in india next month, i love these right out of the box. I've never had any arch issues so i don't know what to say about that. Order your size. . Update: had these for a while now and i love them! i'm actually wearing them all day with socks as house shoes. The plan was to break them in before heading to asia, but i could have worn these out of the box to asia. I literally have these on 12 hours and then take them off without and residual feeling. They come off so easy with a toe push. They go on easily. As mentioned i have a wide foot so i leave them at full size, although for hiking i tighten them just a bit. Total comfort. After reviewing and agonizing over so many choices, i am happy to say this was as good as my choice could have been. . No question. A great product. . Update: back from india & bangladesh. These are the only footwear i took on the trip. I also took one pair of socks (for wearing on the plane). Well, no surprise. They performed! whether hiking down a rocky beach or through miles of urban mumbai, they were comfortable all day. I travel with anti bacterial wipes so i would wipe them down and clean them every other day or so. Kept them nice and fresh. I suffer from hot feet syndrome, but not with these. Now that i'm back home, they are my house shoes again, wearing all day with socks. I'm not sure why several reviews mention that they run big. I wear a size 10 and have very wide and chubby feet. They fit perfectly with the size adjusting elastic left wide open! and they are so easy to take on and off. I love them. Every bit the 5 star product.

The F.A.Q. for merrell men's all out blaze aero sport hiking water shoe

Bought these shoes to go hiking the narrows in zion np. I wanted something with a very open and breathable design versus a semi to fully waterproof design that i see most people go for when hiking the narrows. These shoes really fit the bill nicely. . They were extremely comfortable to wear all day long, in the water and out of the water. My feet did not feel sore after an entire day hiking. They also have excellent grip both in water and in the dry as well. The best part about these shoes is that they are extremely breathable with all the mesh windows it has. I wore them barefoot all day while hiking the narrows because i hate dealing with wet and soggy socks. After walking in the river all day long and then getting out and walking for about 30 minutes on dry land, they seemed to dry up very nicely, although to fully dry them took much longer obviously. And the best part about it, the odor free sole really is odor free! i dried the shoes up over a camp fire and they did not smell rancid at all. I have done this multiple times now, not just in zion. Big plus in my books. . What i love about these shoes is that they look just like any other tennis shoe. You can wear these hiking or just casually while walking around town. They make great shoes to wear when it's hot out because of how breathable they are. Your feet really stay cool all day long versus a regular shoe. I can actually feel a noticeable breeze flowing through when walking at a semi brisk pace.

A number of questions have been asked here.

After reading the reviews that stated this shoe ran large i ordered a full size smaller, 11. It ended up being way too small so i returned it for a size 11. 5. That was also too small so i returned it and ordered a size 12 which is my normal shoe size. Well it fit perfectly! i will not listen to any more reviews on size, haha. The shoe itself is terrific! can't wait to wear it rafting and hiking in grand canyon this summer! btw, online store has an excellent return policy! thank you online store!

Amazingly comfortable! these are the best pair of hiking/walking shoes i've owned. 4 days since i've started wearing them and i'min love with them. I already own hiking boots by wolverine-the company that owns merell- so this was a no brainer! i paid heed to a reviewer's advice and bought half-an-inch larger than what i normally wear. Fit perfect!

These are my new favorite shoe. I bought them looking for something i could hike in, and if i felt the urge, jump in the water for a swim, and then keep hiking. With good wool socks(smartwool) they can do just that, and dry out fairly quickly. . I have size 11. 5 wide feet so i ordered a size 12 and i have a little bit of room in the toe, but i like that for long hiking trips. . I replaced the laces with elastic ones because i live near leavenworth wa and spend a lot of time in the wenatchee river during the summer. I've found that regular laces either come untied too easily or are just more annoying to undo when you want to get the sand out of your shoe. Elastic solved my problem. . I like this shoe because once it's broken in, it becomes a part of your foot when you wear it. It feels like a shoe that is going to withstand an apocalypse because it's made of sturdy materials and it's made well. Despite their sturdiness, they are lightweight and breathable. I can support the seahawks with them(got the blue, green, grey). I wear them everyday for working in(maintenance man at a camp). I go jogging in them. I swim in the river in them. I go hiking in them. I love them. . I did not get this shoe for a better deal or any kind of a discount for my review. And that's ok with me. It has been a great investment.

I bought these last minute to replace a less expensive water shoe, because a friend was raving about them. He was right. I wore these on a rainforest hike in puerto rico that included dirt roads, rocky roads, boulder climbing, rappelling, and in and out of rivers including swimming in some deep areas. They held up so well. Definitely worth the price. After that day of extremely heavy use, the shoes look and feel like new. I wear about a 12. 5, and got the 12. The size, it seems, runs different for different people. Check your shoe size without socks, and check both feet (some people have slight variations in feet size). I like my size, though it is a bit snug. The laces kept out the big rocks and pebbles, but i did end up rinsing them out after about 3 hours. Like washed them when i got back to the hotel room and wore them again the next day to the beach.

I got these for my boyfriend and he loves them! i love them, too, becausse they look great on him and he can wear them all day without blisters or complaining of pain. They have great traction for walking around, but they're made so that a trip across the river (without a bridge) doesn't slow him down. I love my merrell gloves and he loves these! we're goin' places!

I normally put power step arch supports in all my shoes. With this shoe, i found i could not remove the foot bed to put in the power step. Without the power step, the shoe didn't offer any arch support for me, so i put them in anyway. This of course makes the shoe too small. So i had to send them back for a larger size. The shoe itself is pretty nice except for these two things:. . 1) could remove the foot bed so that i could put in my own arch support. 2) toe (you can see from the pictures) of the shoe on top is kind of weird looking making the brand new shoe look like its been worn for a long time.

The quality of this shoes is excellent and would be difficult to match. I usually wear a size 10 in shoes but had to send those back and reorder a size 9 and would still have enough room in them if i wanted to wear socks. Gonna put them through some rigor this week in playa de carmen, cancun and i will update this review if need be, excited about my purchase but definitely would recommend ordering at least a 1/2 size to even a full size smaller. Good luck!

Picked these up to wear fishing from my canoe. Several of the places i go require some portage in & out. The terrain isn't always perfect, some two-track, some gravel, these hikes fit the bill for me. Being in & out of the water and then traveling over hill and over dale, they provide adequate support, are comfortable and dry quickly (and without the stank factor) - i'm a fan and will be purchasing a second pair for fishing out of the lund.

For a size 10, they were very roomy which seemed to have a big fit. But, the shoe stayed molded to my foot and didn't flop around. They were very comfortable and held up well to the terrain. I wore them while shooting and they worked like a champ. As for hiking, they felt comfortable then as well. Overall, good show, good investment. I recommend trying a half size smaller than what you usually wear but, then again that may just be my feet.

Very light and comfortable. Limited arch support as i. I believe that these are supposed to simulate a barefoot feeling. This makes them good for light hiking and walking right out of the box. Would recommend acclimating yourself to them before doing any "real" hiking or use a hiking shoe with more substantial arch support for such activities. Lightweight mesh should be good for hot weather and water activities. Will also make a good traveling show because of light weight and airflow.

A versatile shoe. Durable, does well in water and doesn't get that semi-permanent moldy smell after it gets wet. Caveat: i am a size 12 generally, but this 12 is much bigger than all my footwear. So much so that, surely an 11 1/2 would do the trick, so i bought a second pair in that size. It took several wears of the smaller size to realize that it was too small. Verdict: at least for me, too great a discrepancy between those two sizes. Of the

I liked this show so much i ordered 2 pair. But, they ended up being a little undersized and had to be returned. . Another crazy thing, i could not keep the shoelaces tied, they kept comping untied. It was funny at first like they were made from teflon, but it started pissing me off that the shoe laces could not stay secure. I finally tied a double knot. . I hike around desert lakes and these were great at providing solid traction and keeping small rocks out. I would suggest ordering 1/2 size larger.

These are hands down some of the best hiking/walking shows i have ever owned. They are very comfortable, and the shoe strings are attached to a secondary lace that is weaved into the shoe. This allows for the shoes to be tightened perfect around your feet. Merrels are the best hiking shoes out there imho.

I was looking for an amphibious style shoe for medium to long day hikes around and through water. I love merrell shoes but these ones were at least a half size too large and too roomy in the whole toe area for my foot even if i were to step down a size. Also pretty rough on the inside for going sock-less. Ended up going with the chaco evo 2 which fits like a glove on my foot and has a very hardy sole that can handle the sharp rocks while maintaing a great flex with zero heal slip.
