Let me start by saying that i have been wearing columbia coats like this as my primary coat fall through spring in ohio for the past 15 years or so and have high expectations. . Minor issues: the snow skirt on this one is a bit small for the coat size (or i'm too fat) and tends to pop the snaps when strapping into bindings. In order to use the snow skirt you have to completely unzip the liner from the shell because there is only one zipper (kinda defeats the purpose of the zip in liner). The little exterior breast pocket is too small to get your hand in so getting chapstick out is a pain. . Perks: it is warm and breathable and waterproof and seems like it will last a few years. I actually had ice form on the outside when snowboarding in 5 degree temps. . My biggest complaint and the reason i did not give it 5 stars is it gets harder and harder to find coats like this and they seem to get worse every time i have to buy one with no drop in cost. Whoever tests columbia coats these days should be fired so they can bring back the old crew. All i want is waterproof, breathable, zip in liner, hood, and snow skirt. This is not my favorite coat of all time but the best i could find. Even tried a north face but sent it back.

I found myself impressed by how warm this jacket kept me. I live in michigan, but i'm going to college in new york. I happen to join a snowboarding team and needed a jacket. I've been wearing this jacket at close to 0 degrees with just a t-shirt under it and i feel just fine (i wore a hoodie with a t-shirt under it for when there was windchill well below zero). The only time you will actually get cold with this jacket on is if you happen to have snow sneak its way in. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a jacket that will keep them warm as well as have a slim fit to your body so the jacket isn't just overbearing in size.

- O. TerryI'd say i love this as this is my 3rd whirlybird, but this was defective. The zippers on the liner omni heat jacket (the jacket is 2 months old) catch and lock up. Twice it was so bad i couldn't open the pocket. Finally had to just destroy the zipper to keep the pocket open. Beware. On the other hand, i assume this is a defect. Downside is that i'd hate to be really using this for camping or backpacking. But its bad enough that it won't hold my property safely. But other than that, there's a reason i bought 3 of these. 3 in 1 design i like a lot. I like the hood, plethora of pockets, and lightweight. The omni heat liner works incredibly well and i use it now in new zealand during the winter (in north island, where it is mild) all the time from 30f to 50f and it is very warm. Once i replace this i'll get another and should be happy. A great all around all weather jacket.

So far i really like this jacket. Granted i've only had it three days. As a woman, i tired on several coats from columbia in the women's section but didn't find anything i really liked. When i wondered over to the men's section of the store i found this coat on sale. It has a lot of pockets which i love, and it's a great color. . It is easy to separate the shell from the inside jacket, it has velcro around the cuffs to tighten them up (very useful for me as the sleeves are very long on my short arms), the hood can zip off the coat, and it has velcro as well so you can position it for a good fit on your head. The hood also has like a duck bill to the front of it to keep the rain off your face. The pockets on the side are a little too far forward for my short arms, but i like the fact that they zip, and for a man i'm sure they are situated in the correct spot. . So far i haven't had a chance to wear it on a really cold day, but it has worked in the 20 degree weather i've worn it in. I had to go with a size larger than i expected because my hips were too wide. That shouldn't be a problem for a man. After finding it in store i found a much better deal on online store and bought it here. I'm actually looking forward to some colder days so i can test out how warm it is. . Currently, other than the different fit on me, i haven't found anything i don't like about this jacket. I even bought the matching snow pants to go with it.
